| Division of Minority - and Women-Owned Business Development (MWBD)

The Division certifies companies as Minority and Women-Owned business enterprises if (1) the business is at least 51% owned and controlled by the minority members and/or women; (2) the minority and/or women ownership interest, is real, substantial and continuing; (3) the minority and/or women ownership has and exercises the authority to independently control the day-to-day business decisions; and (4) the business is independently owned, operated and authorized to do business in New York State. Once certified, businesses will be listed in the states M/WBE registry, circulated to state agencies. The Division is charged with ensuring that these agencies award a fair share of contracts to M/WBEs. Call for a certification application.
