Quick Search

Looks for your Quick Search term or phrase in program descriptions under name, contact, affiliation, and city fields.: Partial words; Terms are automatically truncated. For example, plan also finds programs that use the words plans, and planning.

No Multiple words; Quick search treats two or more terms as an exact phrase. So if you type in business loans, you will only find program descriptions that include the phrase "business loans." To find program descriptions with more than one keyword, like "loans" and "business," use the keyword search menu.
: Capitalization; Searching is not case sensitive. Typing either new york or New York will get the same results.

Keyword
	Looks for your keyword or phrase in program descriptions: includes name, contact, affiliation, and city fields. Partial words (truncation) Endings are automatically truncated. For example, plan also finds programs that use the words plans, and planning. Exact phrase vs. Multiple word searching The Services Directory searches two or more terms in one box as an exact phrase. In other words, if you type industrial park in one box you will see all programs that use the phrase "industrial park," but you wouldn't find a program description with a sentence like "parking in industrial zones is prohibited." To search more than one word, use both text input boxes. Capitalization Searching is not case sensitive. Typing either new York or New York will get the same results. Boolean ("AND" / "OR") searching Use both text input boxes to search for more than one term. So to narrow your search to program descriptions which include both plans and business you would type in one box, in the other, and choose "AND" from the AND/OR menu. To expand your search to program descriptions which include either one of these terms, you would choose "OR" from the AND/OR menu. Advanced keyword truncation If you want to find all of the programs that include not only loan, loans, loaning, etc. but also microloans, add a "%" to the beginning of your search term like this: . This will search for the occurrence of loan anywhere within a word.

Location

Looks in the "borough focus" field.

Borough Focus; Keep in mind that a program's "borough focus" might not necessarily be the same as where the program itself is located. For instance, a number of programs that are located in Manhattan actually have an "All Boroughs" focus. To find a program that is located in a specific borough, either do a keyword search (keyword searching looks in the city field for your search terms), or do a category/advanced category search and keyword limit by city.
